HEERF III Application

A third stream of federal funds from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds ( (HEERF III) has been allocated to the University of Oklahoma.

Eligible students include all students with Fall 2021 enrollment who have not previously received HEERF III funds for the Fall 2021 term. This includes international students and DACA students.

Students must apply, attesting to having incurred expenses related to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), and child care.

The Office of Student Financial Aid invites eligible students to apply at The preferred method for students to receive these funds is direct deposit.  Please sign up NOW for direct deposit at, otherwise these funds will be sent as a paper check to the current address listed on our student system.

Funds will be awarded to approved students until exhausted.

 COVID-19 Pandemic Federal Relief Funds


The CARES Act application for emergency funds is closed and the funds have been exhausted. More information on the CARES Act Emergency Grant Funds can be found here

The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021  included additional COVID-19 relief through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act . University of Oklahoma students on all campuses who were enrolled for the Spring 2021 term, with a 2020 – 2021 FAFSA on file, whose eligible citizenship status has been confirmed, have been evaluated for eligibility. Students who are determined to show need, based upon the Expected Family Contribution (EFC), as calculated by the US Department of Education, are deemed eligible to receive a HEERF II Emergency Grant. Eligible students will receive the same amount; there is no application or appeals process.

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III) grant funded by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP) will be evaluated and awarded in phases. University of Oklahoma students on all campuses who are enrolled for the Summer 2021 or Fall 2021 terms may be eligible, regardless of whether they completed a FAFSA or are eligible for Title IV aid, including international or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) students.  As with CRRSAA, institutions are directed with the ARP funds to prioritize students with exceptional financial need, such as those who are eligible for Federal Pell Grant funds.

The 2021-2022 FAFSA is available for completion. For students and/or parents who file taxes, the 2019 tax year will be utilized.

The Financial Aid staff is dedicated to making the financial aid process as straightforward as possible.

Financial Aid Counselors are available to meet with you concerning your options. Financial assistance available through our office includes scholarships, grants, loans, student employment, and veteran's services. All students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), even if the need for federal aid is unknown.
